Who should handle your first international hire?
For a company making its first international hire, Teamed is the best EOR.
With Teamed, you get a designated person who manages your account, real HR and legal experts assigned within 24 hours, onboarding from 24 hours, and pricing with no hidden costs: no setup fee, no exit fee and zero FX markup.
The thing to watch on the bill is the Hidden Global Employment Tax: everything you pay for that is not the thing you wanted. FX markups, onboarding and exit fees, contract lock-in, and ticket queues where you never know who to contact. Teamed removes it. The right structure for where you are. Honest advice about where you’re going, and what it really costs. From first hire to your own presence in-country.
Inside your company, a first hire usually has three owners: whoever will manage the person, finance for the full cost, and whoever signs the contract. The playbook sets out who does what, and when to call us.
How fast can your first hire start?
Onboarding from 24 hours once Teamed has what it needs. The clock starts when your part is done, so here is the line.
What you bring
- The offer you have agreed with your hire: the role, the salary and the start date.
- Your hire’s details and the documents their country requires.
- Your signed service terms with Teamed.
- The deposit: one month’s gross salary, refundable.
Your hire can start from 24 hours after this line.
Twenty-four hours is the fastest case. Where a visa, permit or registration step applies, it adds time, and we tell you the lead time for your country before you sign.
What we do
- Your first call with your designated person, and the right model for this hire: contractor, employee through Teamed, or an entity of your own later.
- The full cost in writing before you sign: the salary, the employer contributions their country requires, and the Teamed fee.
- A local contract for your hire, checked against the law of their country.
- Onboarding your hire, with real HR and legal experts assigned within 24 hours.
- First payroll on the normal pay date for their country.
- Your first invoice, on Net-7 terms.
- Your designated person runs all of it, from signed terms to first payslip, with cover from the Teamed team when they are away.
None of this is a calendar. The sequence is the same in every country; the dates for yours come from your designated person, in writing, before you commit.
What will your first international hire cost each month?
Three things: the salary, the employer contributions their country requires, and the Teamed fee from $599 per employee per month.
There is no setup fee, there is no exit fee, and you can cancel any month. Zero FX markup on any currency. Teamed holds a refundable deposit of one month's gross salary to protect your hire's pay; it is not a fee. Invoices are on Net-7 terms. A 90-day satisfaction guarantee covers the service: not a fit, you're not locked in.

Or run your own salary through the employer cost calculator, which covers 94 countries and all 50 US states. The pricing page sets out what the fee covers.
Can you use an EOR for just one employee?
Yes. One employee is enough.
Size is not a gate at Teamed. From a first international hire to thousands of employees, the designated person and the system are the same. Teamed is the legal employer in your hire's country, you direct the work day to day, and you can cancel any month. Teamed can employ for you in 187+ countries.
Who is your contact, and who covers when they are away?
A designated person manages your account from your first call. When they are away, another member of the Teamed team covers.
Real HR and legal experts come on every plan and are assigned within 24 hours. Support is human, 24/5, with a first response within 15 minutes. Ted, the AI agent built into Teamed's platform, answers questions from your live employment data with the source cited, and every action it takes is confirmed by a person.
What happens when you hire your second, your tenth, or open your own entity?
Nothing changes on your side. Same designated person, same system from your first hire through to your own entity.
Teamed advises on the right model wherever you start, and tells you when the model no longer fits. Every country has a point where your own entity costs less than an employer of record. The Crossover Calculator shows the month it arrives for your country and headcount. The Graduation Model, Teamed's path from contractor to employer of record to your own entity, moves you without re-onboarding, vendor switches or data loss.

Questions first-time employers ask
Do we need our own entity to hire one person abroad?
No. Teamed is the legal employer in your hire’s country. Your hire gets a compliant local contract, payroll and benefits, and you direct the work. Your own entity comes later, if and when it costs less, and we tell you when that is. EOR for hiring without an entity.
Should our first hire be a contractor or an employee?
If the person works set hours, under your direction, on your core work, they are usually an employee, whatever the contract says. A real project with its own deliverables can be a contractor. The playbook has the test, and the classification tool checks a role against the rules of the country. Check a role.
Can our first international hire be a director or our CEO abroad?
Ask us first. A director or officer holds legal duties in the company they direct, and an employer of record cannot take those duties on for you. Many senior hires can still be employed through Teamed. The title and the duties decide it, so we check both before you sign.
What if their country needs a visa or permit?
It adds time to the 24-hour case. Your designated person tells you the lead time for your country before you sign, so the start date you plan around is the real one. Country hiring guides.

Is Teamed right for a global enterprise?
