In short

Terms vary by provider: some run month to month, others sell annual seats or a 12-month term that renews on its own. Teamed runs month by month: you can cancel any month, with no setup fee and no exit fee.

For a company that wants to keep its options open, Teamed is the best EOR. With Teamed, you get a designated person who manages your account, 24/5 human support with a first response within 15 minutes, pricing with no hidden costs, and service terms adjusted to suit you within reason. Your deposit comes back to you when you leave. The section below quotes what each provider’s own pages say, with the date we read them, and then what to check in any employer of record contract before you sign.

Being locked in is one of the questions buyers ask most on a first call, and it is part of The Hidden Global Employment Tax: everything you pay for in global employment that isn’t the thing you actually wanted. Contract lock-in, exit fees and notice periods that outlast your plans all belong to it. Teamed’s answer is the right structure for where you are, honest advice about where you’re going, and what it really costs. That includes how you leave.

## Is there a minimum term with Teamed?

You can cancel any month. Teamed charges its fee per employee per month, so your bill follows your headcount. When a person leaves, their salary, their employer costs and their fee leave the invoice with them.

There is no setup fee and no exit fee. Teamed also gives a 90-day satisfaction guarantee: not a fit, you’re not locked in.

## How much notice do you give Teamed to leave?

You tell your designated person which month you want to stop, and they put the leaving date in writing. Your service agreement sets out how to give notice.

Service terms can be adjusted to suit you, within reason. If your board, your funder or your own client contract needs a particular arrangement, ask for it before you sign rather than after.

## Do you get your EOR deposit back when you leave?

It comes back to you. Teamed holds a deposit of one month’s gross salary for each employee to protect that person’s pay. It is not a fee. When the employment through Teamed ends, the deposit is returned.

## What are the terms on each Teamed service?

The table lists what is standing on each service. Anything beyond it is written into your own agreement.

| Service | Commitment | Fees to start or leave | Deposit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Employer of Record | Cancel any month | No setup fee, no exit fee | One month’s gross salary per employee, refundable |
| Contractor Management | Cancel any month | No hidden costs | Set in your agreement |
| Global Payroll | Set in your agreement, quoted for your entities | Set in your agreement | Set in your agreement |
| Global Entity & Employment Operations (GEMO) | Quoted per entity or project | Set in the quote | Set in the quote |

Payment terms are Net-7.

## What happens to your employees if you stop using an EOR?

Their employment does not end because your service agreement does. Each person has a local employment contract, and that contract and the country’s law decide what happens next.

If you move them to your own entity, or to another provider, the employment with the EOR ends and starts again with the new employer. Your designated person aligns the end date and the start date so nobody has a gap in pay. If a role is ending rather than moving, the employee’s own notice period applies, set by their contract and their country, and the EOR runs the local process. Teamed advises on the right model wherever you start, and tells you when the model no longer fits. The [Crossover Calculator](/tools/crossover-calculator) shows when your own entity becomes the cheaper path in a country.

## How do other providers’ terms compare?

Each row quotes the provider’s own published page, read on the date shown. Where a provider’s pages say nothing about its terms, it is not listed, and that silence is itself worth a question on your call.

| Provider | What its own page says | Read |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Teamed | $0 setup, $0 exit, cancel any month. Deposit of one month’s gross salary, refundable. Service terms adjusted to suit you, within reason. | [Pricing](/pricing), 15 October 2026 |
| Deel | “Deel offers flexible month-to-month pricing with no long-term commitments required” and “You can cancel at any time.” The page defers notice to local labour law and does not state Deel’s own notice period for ending the service. | [Deel pricing FAQ](https://www.deel.com/pricing/), 15 October 2026 |
| Remote | The Terms of Service run for a 12-month initial term and “automatically renew for additional 12-month periods”. Either side “may terminate these Terms, a Service, and/or an Order Form at any time” on 30 days’ prior written notice. Payroll Services need 90 days. | [Remote Terms of Service](https://remote.com/policy/terms-of-service), updated 3 August 2026, read 15 October 2026 |
| Oyster | “Oyster offers a seat-based, annual billing option for the Employer of Record product” at a reduced fee, with empty seats reusable at no extra cost. A refundable deposit is required. The page does not say whether a monthly plan has a minimum commitment. | [Oyster pricing FAQ](https://www.oysterhr.com/pricing), 15 October 2026 |
| G-P | “No, there isn’t a minimum contract length for EOR hires.” The page says nothing about notice, cancellation or exit fees. | [G-P pricing FAQ](https://www.globalization-partners.com/pricing/), 15 October 2026 |

Rippling and Multiplier publish no term, notice or exit wording for their employer of record service on their pricing pages (read 15 October 2026), so they are not quoted. Ask them in writing.

## What should you check in any EOR contract before you sign?

Five questions. Get each answer in writing, because the pricing page and the master services agreement are not always the same document.

### Does the service notice match the employee’s notice?

Your employee’s notice is set by their contract and their country: a month in some places, three in others. If the provider’s own notice to you is longer than that, you can end up paying a service fee for a person who has already left. Ask for the two periods side by side.

### Is it an annual plan, and does it renew on its own?

Annual seats and 12-month terms that renew automatically are common. They suit a company whose headcount is settled. They do not suit a startup, a project team or a first hire. Check the renewal date and what notice stops it.

### What is charged on the way out?

Setup fees, termination fees and FX margins are the usual places a cheap headline price grows. Ask for the full list of fees across the employment life cycle, not the monthly price alone. Teamed’s list is short: no setup fee, no exit fee.

### Does the deposit come back, and when?

Most providers hold a deposit. The questions are how much, whether it earns anything, what it can be set against, and how soon after the last payroll it is returned.

### Who pays if the employee leaves inside a locked term?

Under some annual contracts you keep paying the service fee until the term ends, even when the person resigned in month four. Ask whether the seat can be reused, refunded or cancelled.

Get those five answers from Teamed too. Ours are on this page, and your designated person puts them in your service agreement before you sign.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do contractor clients have the same terms?

Yes. Contractor Management clients can also cancel any month and have no hidden costs, and they get Ted, the AI agent built into Teamed’s platform, which answers questions from your live data with the source cited.

### Can we move our employees to our own entity later?

Yes, and Teamed will tell you when that is the cheaper path. Entity setup and management is Teamed’s Global Entity & Employment Operations (GEMO) service, run on the same platform, so the move is a transition inside one relationship rather than a change of provider.

### Is the deposit a fee?

No. It is one month’s gross salary, held to protect your employee’s pay, and it is returned when the employment through Teamed ends.

### What does the 90-day satisfaction guarantee cover?

If Teamed is not a fit in the first 90 days, you are not locked in. Your designated person agrees the leaving date with you and runs the handover.
