The short answer

The employer pays 5% of the worker's total gross pay to the Seychelles Pension Fund, for each Seychellois worker. On SCR 20,000 a month that is SCR 1,000.

A Seychellois worker below a prescribed pay limit is also owed a thirteenth-month payment of one month's pay. A non-Seychellois worker is not a Pension Fund member under the current Act.

## What does an employer pay on top of gross pay in Seychelles?

The employer pays 5% of the worker's total gross pay to the Seychelles Pension Fund, for each Seychellois worker.

We found no ceiling on the pay it applies to.

| Monthly gross pay (SCR) | Employer Pension Fund, 5% (SCR) | Thirteenth-month accrual, one twelfth (SCR) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 10,000 | 500.00 | 833.33 |
| 20,000 | 1,000.00 | 1,666.67 |
| 30,000 | 1,500.00 | 2,500.00 |
| 40,000 | 2,000.00 | 3,333.33 |

The totals are our arithmetic. The contribution is a percentage of total gross pay, set by the Pension Fund's contribution regulations from 1 April 2022. The thirteenth-month payment applies only to workers below a prescribed pay limit, so the accrual column is for workers inside it. A real payslip can differ.

The employer also pays 15% tax on the value of non-monetary benefits such as housing and vehicles. We found no other employer payroll levy in the sources we read, and we confirm that before the first payslip.

## What does Teamed add to the cost?

Statutory costs pass through at their real amounts, itemised, so you see each line.

Teamed prices every country the same way, with **zero FX markup** in any currency, and the [pricing page](/pricing) shows the fee.

Pricing has no hidden costs, and **real HR and legal experts** come on every plan. Our experts check which route fits your Seychelles hire before any contract is signed, because the route decides which costs are yours.

Contractor, employer-of-record and own-entity routes run on **one platform**. Run the [Employer Cost Calculator](https://www.teamed.global/tools/employer-cost) to model a hire at your own pay level. EOR is the right model for a first hire in many countries, **until it isn't**.

## Which other costs belong in a Seychelles budget?

Budget for paid annual leave, sick pay, maternity and paternity leave, overtime and the compensation owed on termination as well as the Pension Fund.

Each is set by the Employment Act or its Regulations, and each is a cost of the job rather than an extra.

| Cost | What the law sets |
| --- | --- |
| Thirteenth-month payment | One month's pay for a Seychellois worker below a prescribed pay limit, due 31 December and paid by 31 January |
| Annual leave | 24 days a year, paid |
| Sick pay | Up to 21 days paid in 12 months, and 30 more days if confined on medical advice |
| Overtime | 1.5 times on a weekday and 2 times on a holiday |
| Maternity and paternity | 16 weeks, and 10 working days for a father after 12 months. The employer can claim the matching Social Security Act benefit |
| Compensation on termination | Five sixths of a day's wage for each completed month of service when the cause is not the worker's, and double that for a fixed-term contract |
| Foreign worker steps | SCR 150 application fee and SCR 750 attestation fee for the contract |

After five years of service the compensation is 50 days of wages on our arithmetic. For a worker on SCR 20,000 a month, in an 8-hour day and a 40-hour week, that is about SCR 46,153.85 using the Regulations' formula. Accrue it from the first month, because the right counts from the first completed month.

## Does Seychelles require a thirteenth-month payment?

Yes, for Seychellois workers below a prescribed pay limit. It is one month's pay, due on 31 December and payable by 31 January.

The Employment Act excludes non-Seychellois workers.

The Employment (Amendment) Act 2025, which took effect in December 2025, repealed the performance-linked rules that applied for 2022 to 2025. A worker below the limit who leaves before 31 December is paid in proportion to the period of service, except during probation or after a serious disciplinary offence. We confirm the pay limit that applies to the year before we quote the cost.

## Frequently asked questions

How much does the Seychelles employer Pension Fund contribution cost?

5% of the worker's total gross pay, for each Seychellois worker, due by the 21st of the following month. The worker pays another 5%. A late payment carries a surcharge of 5% a month or SCR 10, whichever is higher.

What is the total employer on-cost in Seychelles?

For a Seychellois worker, 5% of gross pay to the Pension Fund plus about 8.33% for the thirteenth-month payment where it applies. Income tax and the employee's 5% come out of the employee's pay, so they do not add to the employer's cost.

What is the cost of the minimum wage in Seychelles?

The minimum wage is SCR 40.95 an hour, or SCR 47.19 for casual workers. The monthly cost depends on the contracted hours, so we work it out for your role.

Is compensation payable on every termination in Seychelles?

Usually when the cause is not the worker's. It is five sixths of a day's wage for each completed month, double for a fixed-term contract, and less or nothing where the cause is the worker's own.

A note from Tom Price-Daniel

Seychelles adds 5% to gross pay for the Pension Fund on each citizen, so a SCR 20,000 hire costs SCR 1,000 a month in contributions.
The bigger numbers are the ones the percentage hides: the thirteenth-month payment, paid leave and compensation on termination.
Budget the contributions for each employee, and our experts will show every line.
